ICLife University Partner receives visit from the King

On 26 May 2016, King Philip of Belgium requested to visit CVO Hoger Instituut der Kempen (CVO HIK), the Centre for Adult Education, which is an active participant in the Campus Life initiative, a project for inclusive education for adults with intellectual disabilities. Inclusion Europe is partnering this project which, if accepted, will commence this September.

ICLife, Inclusive Campus Life, aims to promote and support inclusion of young adults with intellectual disabilities on higher education campuses. Regular higher education students and students with intellectual disabilities will be able to pursue their study path whilst enjoying campus life together. Persons with intellectual disabilities will take courses befitting their aspirations and will be involved in teaching activities as life experts, teaching other higher education students.

CVO Hoger Instituut der Kempen (CVO HIK) is an associated partner of the project. This means they have agreed to share expertise, be part of the National or International Monitoring Committee and disseminate the project results, ensuring the project outcomes are sustainable.

King Phillip requested to visit the school due to his interest in adult education and was received by Mayor Vera Celis and the head of Catholic education. It was evident his focus was on meeting the students and he spent an hour in conversation with 18 students from various disciplines. The monarch selected the departments of bicycle repairs and digital photography for his visit.
