The MACIF, a private French insurance company, ordered a survey to IPSOS to conduct research on carers. The result of its work conducted from December 3. to January 26. 2020 was published in September and consists of 2306 interviewed carers in France on their role, the type of care they performed, and the mental load it represented.

In December 2013, the European Commission initiated a public consultation on patient safety and quality of care. Civil society organisations can contribute to the survey with their opinion on the quality of health services provided in the member states. The consultation also inquires whether the services improved after the adoption of the 2009 Council Recommendation on patient safety.

NHS England is developing a framework for accessible information called an Information Standard. This guidance will set out the requirements for accessible information for health care and social care institutions, as well as for public administration. Thus it is expected to improve the communication between people with disabilities and information providers and help to involve people with disabilities in decision-making.

On 15th of October, Inclusion Europe attended an event on equal access to healthcare at the European Parliament hosted by Diane Dodds, MEP. The event called “It’s our Year, give us a voice!” focused on active citizenship of people with disabilities through equal access to healthcare and was organised by the International Federation for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus in cooperation with European disability networks and the European Year of Citizens Alliance.
