Joint Open Letter urging the Czech Republic to develop community-based alternatives to institutional care

Today, the European Expert Group on the Transition from Institutional to Community-based Care (EEG) coalition published a joint open letter to Czech authorities to express our deep concern about the Calls for Proposals number 29 and 30 on the development of social services, under the Integrated Regional Operational Programme (IROP). We believe these proposals may result in the segregation and exclusion of persons with disabilities from society, thus denying them the right to live independently and be included in the community.
The EEG calls on the Czech Government to revise the Calls for proposals no. 29 and 30 and develop, as a matter of priority, a comprehensive deinstitutionalisation strategy.
