Czech-Slovene project targets young people with intellectual disabilities

The project “Pal4youth – Partnership for a more active life of young people with intellectual disabilities” of our members SPMP ČR – Inclusion Czech Republic and Zveza Sožitje has reached an important milestone. The project partners recently organised a conference in Ljubljana where booklets for adolescents in easy-to-read format were presented. A variety of professionals and people with intellectual disabilities had been involved in the production of the booklets.

The booklets are based on Czech brochures on the topics of sexual relations and health, more specifically on “Being a woman”, “Being a man”, “Love, sex and me”, “Pregnancy”, “Childbirth”, “A visit to the gynecologist” and “Sexual violence”. They are available in three languages: CzechSlovene and English.

On 25 November, a brochure for parents, entitled “My child is growing up – parents’ booklet on relationships, sexuality and support for growing up”, was launched in Prague. The brochure will also be soon available in the three languages.

Our work brings the voice of people with intellectual disabilities and their families where decisions about their future are made.

This has always been incredibly important. It is even more so with the Covid pandemic drastic impact on their rights and lives.

Being visible and vocal on issues directly affecting millions of people requires your support.

Become Inclusion Europe supporter and help us keep doing our work.
