Accessibility, Legal Capacity, Right to vote … What has the European Parliament done on intellectual disability since the last 2014 European elections? What do we expect for 2019? What are the most pressing issues?

To find out, you can now read our contribution to the On Our Watch initiative. The initiative assesses the work of the EU Parliament at mid-term in various policy areas. On Our Watch is an initiative from several Civil Society Organisations to monitor the work of the European Parliament and look forward to the 2019 European elections.

On Our Watch looks at what the European Parliament does for lots of different groups of people.

Inclusion Europe wrote about what the European Parliament has done

for people with intellectual disabilities since 2014.

2014 was an important year because it was the last European Parliament elections.

In the text we talk about what Inclusion Europe wants to change

for people with intellectual disabilities.

We talk about accessibility and legal capacity.

We also talk about about how to make sure

that people with intellectual disabilities can vote.

We wrote this text so people can be prepared for the next European Parliament election.

This election will be in 2019 because the elections are every five years.

Our work brings the voice of people with intellectual disabilities and their families where decisions about their future are made.

This has always been incredibly important. It is even more so with the Covid pandemic drastic impact on their rights and lives.

Being visible and vocal on issues directly affecting millions of people requires your support.
