Eirini Kareta is EU Programmes Manager at the British Council and one of the key organisers of the project “Inclusive Schools” (“InScool”, in short). We interviewed Ms. Kareta as part of our campaign of 2020 focused on inclusive education, motivated to learn more about the InScool project.
In the context of our campaign for last year, we published a final document on the topic of legal capacity and citizenship, presenting an overview of what a lack of legal capacity means for people with intellectual disabilities across the European Union.

On February 11, Unapei was at the National Disability Conference in France, an event at which the French President Emmanuel Macron was also present. During his intervention, Unapei's President Luc Gateau urged the government to find new support solutions for people with disabilities.
On 19 January, 8 men with intellectual disabilities were killed by a fire in a “care home” in Vejprty, Czechia. Another 30 people were injured. Messages of solidarity and concern about the situation of institutions in Europe came from all over the world.
