Inclusion Europe warmly welcomes the new European Disability Strategy “A renewed commitment for a Barrier-Free Europe” presented last Monday 15 November by Viviane Reding, the EU Commissioner for justice, fundamental rights and citizenship.
In December 2009, Inclusion Europe launched the ADAP project, which aims to improve the accessibility of European elections for people with disabilities, as well as several other vulnerable groups.
2.700 people with intellectual disabilities, family members, policy makers and professionals from more than 80 countries gathered under the slogan “Transforming Global Rights into Action” at the 15th World Congress of Inclusion International.
Some high-level speakers of world organizations have recently confirmed their presence at the World Congress of Inclusion International. The World Congress will take place in Berlin, Germany in June. So far 1,855 participants from more than 60 countries have registered.
Today sees the launch of the website for our new project: “Children’s Rights for All”! The project aims to improve the rights of some one million children with intellectual disabilities throughout the European Union.
The 15th World Congress of Inclusion International 16-19 June in Berlin will be one of the most accessible events of its kind worldwide. Full physical accessibility for users of wheelchairs is guaranteed throughout the Congress venue.
There are around one million children with intellectual disabilities aged between 0-17 throughout the European Union. These children often find themselves subject to discrimination and exclusion from society, and are frequently denied the right to good quality education, healthcare, recreation and services.
The World Congress of Inclusion International provides a unique social platform for people with intellectual disabilities, their families, service providers and decision-makers to exchange knowledge and experience on disability issues and to pave the way for improving the daily lives of people with intellectual disabilities.
From 16-19 June 2010, the 15th World Congress of Inclusion International will take place in Berlin! The congress will be held under the patronage of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany, Horst Köhler.
