etr Market Drayton is a English village located in the county of Shropshire.

In the village, new houses have been built for people with intellectual disabilities.
The housing project allows people to live independently,
with extra support if needed.

This housing project was set up because many people with intellectual disabilities
live far away from their friends and families in other parts of England,
because there was not enough room for them in Shropshire.

With these new houses, several people are able to return to their region to live close to their loved ones.
The project cost 1.5 million pounds (which is about 2 million euros),
and 38 carers will work there full-time.

In Market Drayton, a village in north Shropshire, England, special accommodation has been developed for people with intellectual disabilities. The newly constructed facilities are specifically meant to bring back adults with intellectual disabilities who are currently living outside of their home county, in order for them to live closer to their families and friends.

The supported living facility cost 1.5 million pounds and consists of two supported living bungalows, four flats and a small supported living development including gardens and a community space.
The project was initiated by the Shropshire Council that acknowledged the need for more accommodation in order to bring Shropshire’s residents back home.

Some 38 full-time staff members will be employed to assist the inhabitants and to provide the necessary care. Shropshire Council Direction of Adult Social Care Stephen Chandler said that ‘the Council will continue to invest in homes that enable vulnerable people to move back to Shropshire to be closer to their friends and families, and live as independently as possible’.

Market Drayton mayor Tim Beckett said to be pleased about the new jobs the project brings with it. He also stressed that the accommodation project prioritizes previous residents of Shropshire, thus “repatriating” its vulnerable inhabitants back to their home county.

The new residents will be able to move into the facility by June 2015.
